J S Bach: St Matthew Passion80SEK – 320SEK
St Matthew’s Passion, Bach’s longest and most elaborate piece of musical drama, was first performed in Leipzig 1729 and then was forgotten for about hundred of years until Felix Mendelssohn rediscovered this magnificent music.
Double choruses frame the story of Christ’s Passion, with the words of the Gospel being sung by the Evangelist, and reflected on by the soloists in some of Bach’s most hauntingly beautiful arias.
