Claudio Monteverdi: Vesper of the Virgin Mary
26 March @ 16:00 - 18:00
90SEK – 275SEK
Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine (Vesper of the Virgin Mary) is a monument in music history. In honour of the Virgin Mary, Monteverdi wrote a movement collection showcasing his artistic and compositional skills. The music is rhythmic, melodic, powerful, intimate and of unsurpassed beauty – a feast for the ears! The different movements let us listen to solo voices singing from different directions, choir, ancient instruments like lute, posaune, dulcian, zink, early string instruments and organ.
Monteverdi composed this monumental work as part of his application for the post of Director of Music in the Basilica San Marco in Venice. He got the job. The Vespro della Beata Vergine is considered one of the greatest masterpieces in music history.
