The Scent of a Song at Night

Melancholic and bittersweet, many Swedish folk songs evoke the lovely but short Swedish spring season, with its lingering evening light and fragant air.

In this concert, St Jacob’s Vocal Ensemble sings Swedish folk melodies in lush romantic arrangements, as well as original compositions by  David Wikander and Michael Waldenby, who both served at organists in Storkyrkan. Praising the joy and youthful energy of Spring, the choir will also perform Sing Joyfully unto our God our strength by English Renaissance master William Byrd. The choir will also present some folkloristically inspired music from The Philippines and Japan.
