– Anders Nilsson in Focus
For several years, it has been a tradition that we at Storkyrkan host the concert that inaugurates the Svensk musikvår festival. We are happy, proud, and always equally inspired to contribute to celebrating and highlighting Swedish music in this festival that is brimming with life and creativity!
In recent years, the concert has taken the form of a composer portrait. This is also the case this year, when Anders Nilsson and his music are at the center. Anders Nilsson has long been established as one of Sweden’s most interesting composers, not only as a symphonist but also with chamber music, opera, and sacred music in his repertoire. Stepping into Anders Nilsson’s sound worlds is a breathtaking experience where each piece carries a story that reflects his artistic depth and breadth. His musical language is wonderfully both complex and accessible. We are especially pleased to present one of his latest works, Sfärer (Spheres), which truly lives up to its name. Here, the entire church space vibrates with sound and rhythm as the choir, percussion, and organ unite their sonic worlds!
