Johannes Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem
20 October @ 16:00 - 18:00
100SEK – 370SEKJohannes Brahms’ *Ein Deutsches Requiem* is the main feature of Orphei Drängar’s October tour to five Swedish and Norwegian churches and cathedrals. The work is considered one of the greatest in music history for choir and orchestra. Brahms himself compiled the texts from the Bible, focusing more on resurrection and light than on judgment day and death in the music.
Orphei Drängar will perform the work in an arrangement for men’s choir by Joakim Unander and in the version for four-hand piano. At the piano will be Folke Alin and Oskar Ekberg, and the soloists are Kathrin Lorenzen and Lars Johansson Brissman, both members of the Radio Choir and concert singers.
The concert begins with several a cappella pieces. We will hear Viktor Rydberg’s nature-symbolic poem *Drömlif* set to music by Elfrida Andrée, as well as *Psalm 130* composed by Ēriks Ešenvalds for the Golden Gate Men’s Chorus in 2016. Anders Hillborg has composed music to Gunnar Ekelöf’s poem *O dessa ögon* for soprano and men’s choir. The piece *Troget och milt* for solo voice and men’s choir is taken from Ingvar Lidholm’s opera *Ett drömspel* from 1981. Francis Poulenc wrote *Laudes de Saint-Antoine de Padoue* in four movements for three-part men’s choir as early as 1957-1959.
