Mass en masse
23 March @ 16:00 - 17:00
160SEK
From the rich tradition of mass music over the past two hundred years, we have selected a number of favorites. Each mass, each movement, tells a story of faith and hope and of the human relationship to the divine. The sound worlds of Romanticism and Modernism demonstrate different ways of portraying human emotions. Despite differences in time and musical language, there is a common thread: the desire to lift our senses and hearts – from Rautavaara’s simple and modernist interpretation of the centuries-old credo text, rhythmic and almost dance-like, to Pizzetti’s Sanctus, whose polyphony was inspired by the Venetian school, to Barber’s Agnus Dei, which immediately conveys a heartfelt feeling.
Between the mass movements, Mattias Wager improvises on the organ, music created in the moment as a reflection on the music just played and as a bridge to the music to come.
