The Tree of Life
31 May @ 16:00 - 17:00
160SEK
The vocal ensemble VOS was formed in 2015 under the name Malmö Live Vokalensemble. VOS has high ambitions and is eager to explore new music. The name stands for Voices of Scandinavia and reflects the choir’s ideals, the delicate and direct sound often associated with Scandinavia. The choir is led by Robert Bennesh, former cathedral organist in Lund and now organist and choir leader at Uppsala Cathedral.
In today’s program, Stefan Klaverdal’s music is the common thread, with movements from the oratorio Vid porten (At the Gate), which was premiered by VOS in 2023. Stefan Klaverdal, born in 1975 in Stockholm, is one of Sweden’s most active and internationally recognized sound artists and composers. His music is known for being both dark and mysterious, but also kaleidoscopic, dramatic, and lyrical, often with a unique mix of acoustic and electronic instruments. As a singer, he seeks the lyrical and human aspects of music, where electronics are seen as an extension of his own voice.
The concert also includes contemporary compositions by, among others, the Lund composers Linda Alexandersson and Sofia Söderberg.
Program
- Stefan Klaverdal: The Tree of Life, Sub Tuum Praesidium, Alleluia, and Sprickan (The Crack)
