Sing in Christmas
21 December @ 16:00 - 17:20
100SEK – 290SEKWhen the cathedral cantor Gary Graden conducts his final Sing in Christmas at Storkyrkan, he will be accompanied by an esteemed ensemble, including mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, guitarist Fabian Fredriksson, organist Mattias Wager, and the Linné Quintet.
Royal Court Singer Anne Sofie von Otter is one of the most versatile artists of our time, performing regularly around the world with leading conductors and orchestras. In recent years, she has frequently collaborated with guitarist Fabian Fredriksson, who, with his roots in popular music, now moves freely between various genres and musical styles. The dynamic Linné Quintet, since its inception in 1986, has been dedicated to revitalising the Swedish repertoire for brass quintet, resulting in around 40 premieres of Swedish compositions.
In the Anglo-Saxon tradition, carols are as integral to Christmas as our Swedish Christmas songs are to us. Many of the English carols also have Swedish counterparts, such as “O Come All Ye Faithful,” which we know in Swedish as “Dagen är kommen.” During the concert, you will experience a dazzling array of well-known Christmas carols alongside some newly composed pieces. There will be solo songs, choral works, and magnificent organ music. If, by some chance, you don’t find yourself in the Christmas spirit after the concert, you may just have to attend another one!
