Festal evensong

Easter Day celebrates the triumph of life over death and light over darkness. It is the greatest feast of the Christian Church, reminding us of Jesus’ resurrection after the crucifixion – the hope of new life and reconciliation is born in our hearts. Evensong, through its prayers, psalms, and beautiful choral music, offers a moment of stillness in which this message finds special resonance.
In the calm atmosphere of Evensong, the tradition established in the sixteenth century lives on, where devotion and music meet to draw us closer to faith and to one another. The music uplifts, the silence brings peace, and the words invite reflection in a world that so often rushes ahead. Here, the joy and solemnity of Easter become a living reality.
As The Economist aptly describes it: “The music soars, the prayers bring peace, and the congregation departs with renewed strength.” Evensong creates a space for community, renewal, and hope that endures long after the evening has ended.
