Stations of the cross

At 3 p.m. on Good Friday – the hour of Jesus’ death – we gather for reflection on life’s deepest questions. For many years, this occasion has offered a moment of stillness through a poetic and musical journey along the fourteen Stations of the Cross, the Via Dolorosa.
In 1930, composer and organist Marcel Dupré improvised upon Paul Claudel’s poetic work Le Chemin de la Croix (“The Way of the Cross”) – a series of thought-provoking and profoundly human texts about suffering and reconciliation. These improvisations were later transformed into fourteen musical meditations, each reflecting the depth and drama of its respective station.
Through Stina Ekblad’s interpretation, Claudel’s poetry is brought to life with immediacy and presence. Dupré’s organ music moves between tender stillness and powerful drama – an emotional journey from deep sorrow to the light of hope. In the meeting of word and sound arises a deeply moving dialogue that leads us along the Way of the Cross with spiritual depth and heartfelt immediacy.
